Welcome! There are 3 different types of user in Classroom Monitor: CM Leaders, Teachers and SLT. You will find information relevant to new users of each type below.

Classroom Monitor Leaders

The CM leader's job is to maintain the admin account to make sure that the system is ready for the teachers to start assessing. You will be supported in this via your implementation call. Download our Getting Started There are 3 key things that you will need to do to get started:

1. Are the pupils, classes and teachers set up?

If we are synchronising with your school MIS then there is not much that you need to do in school as the sync will pull across the pupils, classes and teachers.

  • Teachers will only show if they are assigned as the group teacher in the MIS. Any job share teachers, teaching assistants, SLT or any other not assigned to a class will need to be set up manually. Please see the guidance on how to set up teacher accounts.
  • Groups will also sync across however, if you are wanting to set up additional groups such as reading, writing and maths groups this can be done via the admin account OR the teacher login. The guidance will show how to set up additional groups.

If you do not have an MIS that is compatible with the sync OR you do not have an MIS in school, you will need to upload the classes, pupils and teachers using the Pupil Import tool. The steps on completing a CSV file for the import can be found in the Pupil Import Tool guidance.

2. Providing usernames and passwords to teachers

Teachers will not know their username and password until this has been shared with them. The usernames can be found by logging in as Admin selecting Management > User management. Here you will a list of all staff that are set up to use the system. Passwords will need to be set for them (if not already set in the implementation call). The criteria for setting a password is that it must contain 8 characters and it must contain at least one number. The teacher will then be able to login into the system, but they will need to change their password again which they will continue to use thereafter.

3. Classroom Monitor Academy

The CM Academy has training resources organised into 3 pathways: CM leader, SLT or a class teacher.  Each training pathway consists of four levels from Getting started through to Expert level. The courses can be completed anytime during your subscription. Select 'Training' in the top right hand corner of the homepage for access. You can then select the 'CM Leader' tab to access the relevant webinars, courses and guides.

Teacher users

If you are new to using Classroom Monitor, you will be provided with a username and password by the CM leader in your school. Once you have logged in you will need to change your password to make it bespoke and the new password will be used moving forward. To change your password, you will need to select the ‘Change Password’ option that is located on the top right-hand side of the screen once you have logged on. The new password must be at least 8 characters and contain at least one number.

The CM Academy provides you with training resources to progress from 'Getting Started' to 'Expert'. It will guide you through the basics of logging in and then recording assessment so that you can start using the system. The teacher training pathway consists of four levels from Getting started through to Expert level. The courses can be completed anytime during your subscription. Select 'Training' in the top right hand corner of the homepage for access. You can then select the 'Teacher' tab to access the relevant webinars, courses and guides.

We also offer online webinars throughout the year for more details on how to sign up for a webinar please see the link https://classroommonitortraining.weebly.com/teacher-webinars.html.  We understand using a new system can be a little overwhelming therefore if you require any guidance on best practice to make the most out of using the system click onto link to guide you through https://classroommonitortraining.weebly.com/best-practice-for-teachers.html.

SLT users

The information above for teacher users is applicable to you. In addition, there is an SLT pathway in the CM Academy which contains useful training resources to support your role as a member of SLT. It is important for the SLT to put certain expectations in place such as usage, how often are you expecting staff to update the system, understanding the reliability of data that is entered, and that scoring within the system Is understood by all staff. The SLT pathway will guide you in this and also includes information on monitoring attainment and progress in school and how to present the data to Governors/MAT/LA/Ofsted.
