Curriculum customisation is available to all schools on a subscription basis. To customise an existing framework you will need to be logged in as the school admin user.

It is possible to edit any objectives within Classroom Monitor. This page will give you information on how to change the wording of the objective in markbooks, reports and Assessment Summaries; change the subject and/or level an objective belongs to or make the objective inactive.

Find Objectives To Edit

1. Access the subject details screen for the subject that you want to edit.

2. Click on the blue 'Edit' button in the top right hand corner and choose 'Objectives'.

3. Select the level (1) for the objective(s) that you wish to change. NB not all levels will be populated depending on the subject that you have chosen.

4. Press the 'Edit' button (2) of the objective that you

Edit Objective Text

Find the objective to edit following the instructions above.
Code: Can be left blank. If you choose to add a code, this will be used to identify the objective in the tables and graphs within
Curriculum Tracking.

The four main boxes contain the relevant statement(s) for that objective.

Markbook objective: Shows the text that will be used in markbooks and what will be added to reports and Assessment Summaries for unassessed objectives.

The next 3 or 4 boxes show what will be added to reports and assessment summaries if a statement has been assessed as red, yellow, green or blue. The language used will reflect the assessment terminology used by your school for the selected curriculum.

In this example, you can see the default language for Rising Stars of Target, Almost, Met and Exceeding.

In the example in the image above, you can see that the text used in each boxes varies according to the assessment judgement it represents e.g. 'can often' for the Almost Objective and 'should work towards' for the Target Objective. Some frameworks will have this by default whilst others will have the same statement in all boxes as the Markbook Objective is duplicated if any other box is empty.

You will also notice some coding in the text boxes (e.g. ++). This coding is used to make sure that comments are personalised to individual pupils when used in the pupil markbook or reports. Pressing the relevant button will input the coding into the text box e.g. (## for pupil's name). Any text in curly brackets { } contains the strand so should be retained to maintain your curriculum structure. To see how the statements will look without the coding, you can use the 'Preview Statements' button towards the top of the page (note that relevant capitalisation will happen automatically).

The final large box shows the text for the Guidance which appears when you hover over that objective in the markbook. You may notice that there is some html coding in the box above to format the text, but this can be entered as plain text if you would prefer.

When you are happy with your changes, you should press the green 'Save Changes' button in the bottom right hand corner. If you don't do this, no changes will be saved.

Remove Objective From Markbooks

Find the objective to remove following the instructions above. If you do not want an objective to appear in markbooks then you should use the switch towards the bottom of the page labelled Active/Inactive. Once an objective is inactive, users will not be able to assess against it and it will not be used in calculations of scores. You must always save any changes for them to be applied.

Move objective

Find the objective to move following the instructions above.

  • Move to a different ability level: Use the 'ability' dropdown to move the objective to a different ability level within the samesubject. This will remove the objective from the current level.
  • Move to a different strand: Use the 'strand' dropdown to move the objective to a different strand within the same subject. This will remove the objective from the current strand.
  • Move to a different subject: Open the 'Show Advanced Options' bar. Click the 'Subject' dropdown to assign a new curriculum, subject and ability for the objective.

NB You must always remember to save any changes for them to be applied.

Change Weighting Of Objective

Find the objective to edit following the instructions above.
By default, all active objectives will carry the same weighting towards the overall score (i.e. 1). Please take care before changing any weightings. To change an objective's weighting, you can open the 'Show Advanced Options' bar. You can change the weighting to any whole number. Changing an objective's weighting to 0 will mean that it shows in the markbooks but any assessment isn't included in the automatic score calculation. You must always remember to save any changes for them to be applied.
