Classroom Monitor enables you to set attainment target scores for groups of pupils and individuals. You can use these to track progress- viewing the data as tables or graphs.



Targets in Classroom Monitor


When tracking targets, Classroom Monitor uses the "points" values that sit behind the scoring systems in all frameworks (NB these are not related to the points values in the previous National Curriculum). When a target is set, Classroom Monitor draws a line for each pupil that runs from the points score that they had on the start date to the points score that has been set for the end date. An example is shown below with the red dotted line showing a linear path from start point to the end target.



This target line is then used to compare with a pupil's attainment (solid blue line in this image) on any given date to determine whether or not they are on track which is defined as within 0.5 points of their target attainment score:

  • more than 0.5 points lower than the projected target for that date is classed as "Below track"
  • between 0.5 points lower and 0.499 points higher than the projected target for that date is classed as "On track"
  • 0.5 points or more higher than the projected target for that date is classed as "Above track"
