Classroom Monitor comes with a number of preset graphs to give you quick and easy access to key tracking information. These are available to every SLT / Teacher user on their homepage and can be a useful way of keeping an eye on the bigger picture without getting involved in in-depth analysis.
Graphs that are relevant to individuals will be available on the right hand side of every user's homepage as soon as:
- the admin user has selected the appropriate settings for your school (admin help page)
- there are relevant scores saved in Classroom Monitor.
The Attainment Spread graph shows the current spread of attainment in the group/year group. Each score that is present in the group is represented along the x axis and each subject is shown as a different coloured bar. The height of a bar shows the percentage of pupils currently achieving that score in that subject.
The Attainment Spread PDF export shows each subject in a separate row. Each cell shows a number and a percentage.
The four consecutive scores that together reflect the largest proportion of the class are shown as individual columns. In addition, the red column aggregates any scores below the lowest shown and the blue column aggregates any scores above the highest shown.
If all of the subjects displayed come from the same curriculum and have the same scoring system it will look like the image below. We can see here that 28.6% of the year group (or 6 children) currently have a 6 Dev in Maths and 9.5% of the year group (2 children) have a score higher than a 6 Sec in Reading.
If you have subjects with different scoring systems, the relevant scores will appear in the relevant rows rather than at the tops of the columns.
The sub-groups used in the Attainment Breakdown outputs are: All, Boys, Girls, Pupil Premium, Nor Pupil Premium, SEN, Not SEN, EAL, Not EAL. These have been chosen as the groups that are used by most schools and cannot be changed. However we realise that different schools may have different groups that they want to track. If you click on the 'View in Group Tracking' button this will enable you to add and remove selections from the graph. You can then save this as a favourite of your own although the preset will remain as set up by Classroom Monitor.
This graph shows the average attainment for each sub-group of the group / year group selected. Each subject is shown as a different coloured bar and the height of a bar shows the average number of points in that subject for that group.
This PDF export is similar to the Attainment Spread explained above, but this time a row has been added in to show the data for each sub-group. There are also a number of 'Gap' rows; these show the difference between the two groups directly above it (e.g. Not PP and PP). NB This difference will always be positive as it does not take into account the order they appear in the table.
If you are an SLT user viewing an Attainment Breakdown for 'Whole School', the Attainment breakdown outputs are set to show each year group rather than the sub-groups. This enables you to compare attainment across the year groups in your school. Sub-group breakdowns can only be viewed a year group at a time.
The progress graphs show progress measured in points. As National Curriculum 2014 is a mastery curriculum, pupils do not progress in a linear way as they did with levels. This means that you need to intepret points progress carefully. Remember that there are many other ways of demonstrating progress using Classroom Monitor.
This PDF export shows each subject in a separate row. The data is displayed differently to the graph in that each progress point is listed individually rather than the progress bands shown in the graph. This means that you can view your data in more detail. The number of points progress is shown at the top of each column. The number and percentage of pupils achieving that amount of progress are shown in each cell.
The sub-groups used in the Progress Breakdown are the same as those in the Attainment Breakdown i.e. All, Boys, Girls, Pupil Premium, Nor Pupil Premium, SEN, Not SEN, EAL, Not EAL.
This PDF export is similar to the Progress Spread explained above, but this time a row has been added in to show the data for each sub-group. There are also a number of 'Gap' rows; these show the difference between the two groups directly above (e.g. Not SEN and SEN).
If you are an SLT user viewing a Progress Breakdown for 'Whole School', the Progress Breakdown outputs are set to show each year group rather than the sub-groups. This enables you to compare progress in different year groups in your school. Sub-group breakdowns can only be viewed a year group at a time.

Any graphs that you have previously saved as favourites will appear at the bottom of the group selection dropdown menu. PDF exports will not be available for these although you will be able to view them in group tracking.
