MIS Synchronisation keeps Classroom Monitor updated with pupils, classes, staff, parents (for online reporting) and attendance data throughout a school year. When active, changes in a school's Management Information System (MIS) will automatically be reflected in Classroom Monitor the following day. This includes all changes for new school years and any teacher or pupil changes throughout the year.  The synchronisation does not pull through any assessment data. If you are wanting to put this data onto Classroom Monitor, please have a look at the Test and Assessment Import help page.

MIS synchronisation with Classroom Monitor is provided through our MIS integration partner- Wonde. They are a school data integration specialist used by many leading applications.

Schools without an MIS or those who are unable to sync their MIS will need to keep Classroom Monitor updated by importing CTF files or using the Pupil Import tool.

Which MIS systems can sync with Classroom Monitor?

The list of applications that link to the Wonde platform, so can be linked to Classroom Monitor, includes: SIMS, Arbor, RM Integris, ScholarPack, Bromcom, Engage, DoubleFirst, Progresso, WCBS, CMIS, Pupil Asset, iSAMS, Facility. This means that even if you have previously been unable to sync with Classroom Monitor it may now be possible.

Setting up your MIS sync

If you would like an MIS sync to be activated:

1. Contact us to let us know that you want an MIS sync to be activated.

2. We will request access to the required information from your school through the Wonde platform.

3. A member of the Wonde integration team will make contact with you to arrange a time to install the link. (If your school already has Wonde installed, you will get an instant request to allow Classroom Monitor access.)

4. Once the link has been installed and you have granted access to us, the data becomes available to Classroom Monitor and is updated when changes are made in your MIS.

The team at Wonde are on hand to answer any questions you may have about your MIS synchronisation with Classroom Monitor:

Keeping your data secure

Wonde provides schools with a solution to help manage who has access to their data, and what data is being accessed. They act as a protective layer between schools and third party applications, only allowing the agreed information to be passed on from the school’s MIS. Not only does Wonde provide a login area for schools to always see what data is used by third parties, but it also allows them to revoke access at any point… putting schools firmly in control.

MIS sync queries

Change of sync provider: Wonde is now our preferred MIS synchronisation partner. If you have a Groupcall sync, you should have been contacted by Wonde to arrange an installation and we encourage you to arrange this as soon as possible if you have not done so already. While Groupcall sync is still supported currently, no new Groupcall installations will be taking place.

Change of MIS server / MIS system: Contact Wonde for support in re-activating the sync hello@wonde.com

Pupils and/or groups don't seem to be updating: Any changes made in your MIS should appear in Classroom Monitor within 24 hours. If this hasn't happened, this suggests that the sync is not working correctly and you should contact us to investigate.

A pupil is missing in Classroom Monitor: First, check your MIS to see if any pupil UPN numbers are missing. Update as required in your MIS and this will sync overnight. If pupils with UPN numbers in your MIS are missing, then your sync is not working correctly and you should contact us to investigate.

Pupils added to a group in Classroom Monitor have been removed: In Classroom Monitor, there are two types of group: ones that are manually created and ones that sync with your MIS. Changes to MIS sync groups (e.g. classes) should be made in the MIS rather than Classroom Monitor; the MIS is always assumed to be correct so Classroom Monitor will update during the sync to reflect this and remove any pupils added in Classroom Monitor only.

Some users are missing in Classroom Monitor: User accounts will automatically be created when the MIS is mapped to Classroom Monitor for any teacher who is assigned to a class on the MIS. Teachers who do not have classes assigned in your MIS (e.g. PPA teachers, some SLT) will need to be added manually through the admin login following the instructions on the Setting Up Teacher Accounts help page.

Mapping alert: A ‘Mapping alert’ on the Classroom Monitor admin homepage means there are differences between what is in your MIS and what is in Classroom Monitor. Follow the instructions on the MIS Mapping help page.
