From this page, you can access all of the information that you need to get your school up and running with Classroom Monitor as quickly as possible. You will require access to your school's admin login to do this.

Step 1: Import pupil data into Classroom Monitor
Any of these three options will allow you to import your pupil data into Classroom Monitor along with key information about each of them (e.g. gender, SEN status etc.)

Option 1: MIS Synchronisation tool

You can link your MIS with Classroom Monitor to keep it updated with pupils, classes, staff, parents and attendance data throughout a school year. Click here for more information.
Option 2: CTF setup

If your school MIS does not sync with Classroom Monitor, you can setup using a Common Transfer File (CTF) import. Click here for instructions.
Option 3: Pupil/class import tool

If your school does not have an MIS or you cannot export a CTF from it, you can use the pupil/class import tool. Click here for instructions.


Step 2: Assign pupils to classes/groups

Option 1: MIS Synchronisation tool

Automatic. You can check the setup in Group Management if you wish.
Option 2: CTF setup

Setup manually in Group Management or using the Pupil/Class import tool.
Option 3: Pupil/class import tool

Continue process in Pupil/Class import tool.


Step 3: Set up user accounts

Option 1: MIS Synchronisation tool

Automatic. To find out about how to retrieve your staff usernames and passwords, please click here. Staff will then use this to set up their own account.
Option 2: CTF setup

Setup manually in User Management.
Option 3: Pupil/class import tool

Setup manually in User Management.


Step 4: Fine-tuning your account set-up (Optional)
There are a number of optional extra things that you can choose to do via your school's admin login.

  • Import assessment data: Import statutory and/or other prior assessment data into Classroom Monitor.
  • Setting homepage favourites: Choose the options for the graphs that are displayed on each user's homepage.
  • Customising assessment frameworks: Customise the assessment frameworks to meet your school's needs.
  • User management: Create users that weren't automatically generated at account setup (e.g. SLT with no class teacher responsibilities, PPA teachers, teaching assistants), change user permission and groups associated with users.
  • Group management: Create groups that aren't in your MIS - for small guided intervention groups or ability sets.


Step 5: Training for you and other staff in your school
included in your subscription is access to a full onboarding package that all users in your school can access. Whether this is delivered in staff meetings or individuals work through at their own pace is up to you. There is a collection of Learning Guides, supported by videos and webinars, to ensure that everyone quickly progress to being expert Classroom Monitor users.
